Why did the Japanese act so brutal, demonic and inhumane despite their illustrious heritage?
You all know the history and it’s history.
(Thank God Japanese people are more humane nowadays)
(Thank God Japanese people are more humane nowadays)
The Japanese cultural upbringing places emphasis on honor, integrity, respect and humanness.
Yet..
The Japanese were horribly vile in their military conquests.
This is obviously a huge contradiction.
I want to know the reason why there is so much cruel and vile behavior coming from a high and cultured nation.
Thank You.

They believed that only their own kind had honor, integrity, respect and humanness.
And the rest of humanity was vile.
So, America bombed the heck out of them.
God bless America. Thank you for saving the world from the horrid 1940s Japs.

Simply racism.
They believed that other races were worse than pigs

Most cultures establish rules of proper behavior; however, there is a long history of civilizations practicing their civilized behavior only within their own populations.
For example, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is mostly about treating visitors properly, instead of any “sins” the people of these cities were perpetrating on themselves. In fact, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah doesn’t even mention the sins of the cities, except for their rude treatment of Lott’s guests.
The story of the Samaritan is also of this ilk.
The Japanese were cruel to the people of their conquered lands simply because they weren’t Japanese. Even more than that, the Japanese had been taught that the peoples they conquered were “lower” than them, which increased the acceptance of their cruel behavior.
This is to say, in every war, every culture has shown its ugly side. Even when not during a war, outsiders can be treated poorly. It is only in the last century that countries (particularly the North American and European countries) have endeavored to keep their soldiers “civil”.

If you were referring to the Japanese soldiers during WWII, they were actually not Japanese but Koreans. Only their officers were true Japanese. Most of the Japanese enlisted men were either serving the navy or the air force during that time. Ordinary foot soldiers were Koreans under Japanese officers.

So, was the allies dropping a nuclear bomb on the Japanese some kind of act of love? I loathe the hypocrisy that defines one method of slaughter acceptable and another not.

Because it is natural in human nature for people to become brutal when they have power. Read the history of any nation that has conquered other nations and you will find records of unspeakable cruelties.
Example, the Ancient Greeks in the war against Troy were utter barbarians in what they did. After Troy was defeated, the child of Hector, was swung by his feet by a Greek to bash his head to pieces against the tombstone of Achilles, in ritual revenge against the Trojans for having killed Achilles in battle. The child’s mother was made to witness this murder.
Example, the Irgun fighters in Israel who fought the British in 1946-1947, for Israeli independence, sewed the ********* of British soldiers in their mouths. The leader of the Irgun, Menachem Begin, later became Prime Miniser of Israel.
Example, American soldiers in Iraq right now are raping and murdering Iraqi children.
Example, in Burma at present, the military rulers, financed by China and Japan, are murdering/raping everyone who dares to fight them. The rest of all the powerful nations in the world are allowing China and Japan to go ahead because the rest of the world is doing very profitable trade with China and Japan.
As Pogo in the comics said, “We have found the enemy; and he is us.”
Not just the Japanese, my friend. My people and your people, too, somewhere in history.

Japanese are exceptionally brutal. Especially when compared to Allied forces. Read this

Contrary to what “Aishi” contends, the Japanese soldiers were Japanese. Koreans were used in areas of lower echelon, like prison camp guards, guards on ships, and, labor, etc.
The Japanese acted “Demonic and inhumane” due to what they called “their illustrious heritage” They believe they were all decedents of the “Living Sun” or, the Emperor was their “Living God”
All others, especially those that opposed them we’re under them and deserved nothing less then death and, to be alive, was an insult. They thought, it was against their own cardinal rule to just take a life but, in the action of living, it was justified.
They did treat their prisoners as themselves when it came to eating, they lived on a handful of rice and veggies, the Allies couldn’t subsist of this food everyday and came down with disease like scurvy and, dysentery. The fewer prisoners that made it back to the camps after work details, the better. They were very cruel in a sence.
Near the end of the war, they started murdering the prisoners to cover their own *****. Very few were ever brought to trial.
Two of my very good friends were on the “Bataan death March” their stories are what Stephen King’s horror stories are written about.
