How is Japanese different to Korean and how are these two different to Chinese?
People often say that Chinese is like Japanese, and Japanese is like Korean, but I know that is wrong. Can somebody tell me how are they exactly different.

Both Korean and Japanese are considered language isolates, with many linguists supporting the hypothesis that Korean can be classified as an Altaic language, or as a relative of proto-Altaic, bearing some morphological resemblance to some languages of the Eastern Turkic group. Chinese is part of the Sino-Tibetan language family.
Both Korean and Japanese were influenced by Classical Chinese and were once written in Chinese characters. Korean changed to Hangul characters, while Japanese added hiragana and katakana scripts.

Simple. Japan speaks Japanese. China speaks Chinese. And, Korea speaks Korean. You, see? So, simple.

There is a image that most Japanese wear glasses,
but its wrong.
In fact 70 percent of Korean wear glasses,
Japanese no,I guess it’s less than 30 percent.
I always distinguish them by looking their eyes.
Because generally Korean or Chinese has
thinner eyes than Japanese eyes in my opinion.
Also I think Koreans eye’s corners are slant upward
comparing to Chinese or Japanese.
I cant say anything about Chinese
because it includes over 100 kinds of people
and I know nothing about them.

Its like asking how French and Italian are different and how these two are different to Russian.

Chinese and Japanese may have some resemblence because they use some of the same characters in both language. But all in all, they’re all different languages so… really, pretty much everything is different.

if you trace it back to the really old days, you will see that Korean and Japanese come from Chinese. when you go to Japan, you will see Chinese characters, when you go to Korea, you will see Chinese characters. BUT if you go to China, you wont see Japanese or Korean. I dont mean on shop signs or other signs, i mean historical things like temples.

japan is an island, korea is in the asian Continent next to china, japanese and koreans are isolated languages(ie not influenced by other languages to form it), japan, korea and china are different in culture and tradition.
here is a chinese costume
korean
japanese
as you can see they are quite similar yet they are still different.
the same could be said for martial arts. chinese and kungfu, korean and taekwendo, japanese and karate.
china is a huge country comparing to the two and so is it’s large culture:scale however all have ancestrall hitory, Dynasties, royal families ….
you will only be able to ddistinguishbetween the three after you have researched and go involved in learning some of the culture and cusoms.
here comes the most popular website of all…
wikipidia.
there are 2 koreas now. north and south. when answering your question you can use either one but it woud be good if you have a go at both.
i hope that helps, good luck with this, it took me a while to figure things out too.

They are waaay different. Japanese, korean, and chinese (there are many kinds of “chinese”, like mandarin and cantonese) each have their own characters. Japanese uses some Chinese characters, but not all of them. Korean used to use chinese characters but they don’t anymore.
They’re different because… they’re different languages!
They also sound very different from each other.
