<a href="http://www.bizrave.com">Marketing Strategies</a>

Their can be no cost put on something like that. It can be traded as a commoditaty for Dollars, but the true cost is priceless. Men died to capture that flag, and raise their own in its place. Men died defending that flag to protect their home, while others fought them to win.

I would donate such a thing, putting a cost on it is not what anybody on either side of the flag was fighting for. It is apart of our history, our story, our sturggle and our victory in the Pacific. To honor those who took it, and raised "Ol' Glory" in its place, donate it to a society it will give it what the who died to cause it fall deserve. Many Organization will be glad to take it, the VFW, American Legion, and if they decline, the National Archives and Records Administration will always take a prize of war, just for the story behind it.

Unless it was signed by a person with some historical significance, you probably can't expect to get more than a few hundred dollars at the most. These flags are actually fairly common; practically every military unit had a signed flag, and practically every American GI took home as many souvenirs as they came across. Try contacting your local VFW; they may know about someone who's looking for one.

Personally, I'd feel better about donating it to the Japanese Embassy so it could be returned to survivors or their families. Whoever signed that flag, there are certainly still relatives in Japan who remember them. It would probably mean much more to them than a few hundred dollars would mean to you.

I would contact your home insurance company and have them appraise it or if the antiques road show is near you anytime soon, go there. As for the sale of the items, EBay.
