Is it true that Japanese men are intimidated by white western women?

I always hear from western women in Japan and even read in articles in Japanese magazines that Japanese men rarely show interest in white women because they believe they’ll be rejected. One Japanese magazine article (that I found offensive) said that Japanese men see Japanese women as their equal, white women as their superior and black women as below them. But is it true that when Japanese men see the stereotypical American woman (ie tall, big breasts, blue eyes, blond hair) that they think they will be turned down is they show interest? Please post.
