Car Imports – Imports of Japanese Cars in 2009
As far as the international trade is concerned the Japanese automobiles have been considered as the most famous brands on Earth and they make up the huge part of the imported products.
Top manufacturers of automotives in Japan include Isuzu, Honda, Mazda, Kawasaki, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Mitsuoka, Suzuki, Subaru and Yamaha.
In US and Canada, in 2009, the deliveries of the passenger cars from Japan have fallen down by 41.7% and 30.6% respectively.
Imports of Japanese Cars to USA
Last year almost about 24.1 billion US dollars worth of the imported passenger cars were shipped by the car makers of Japan to the American importers. A year before about 41.3billion dollars had been exported by Japan in its automobiles to United States.
Huge decline in the sales was seen by most of the foreign and the domestic automobile companies last year. As an example it can be quoted that last year 47.5 % less passenger cars were sold by the Chinese car makers to America. There was also a down fall in the American exports of cars to various countries by 44.5%.
Even though the car imports from Japan to US have also fallen to about over 40% but still it is the dominant supplier of automobiles to America that have been shipped from Pacific-Rim.
About 77% of the cars that were imported by US from the countries of the Pacific-Rim in 2009 belonged to Japan. The sales of the cars from Japan were far beyond that of the 6.5 billion dollars of South Korea, 115.4 million dollars of Australia and 97.9 million dollars of China.
Imports of Japanese Cars to Canada
In 2009, 3.2 billion US dollars were paid by Canada for the automobiles that it had imported from Japan. The statistics to which it can be compared was 4.6 billion dollars in 2008.
But if you want to put this decline into a particular perspective then it should be considered that imports of the automobiles, which were American-made, into Canada also fell by almost 40.6%. The overall slide in the exports of cars from all the countries was about 32.8%. The meaning of such steeper declines in the foreign car imports to Canada is that the market share was actually gained by the car makers from Japan as they avoided the decreases in the car imports that were more than average.
A total of 18.8% of 17 billion dollars was generated by the Japanese car imports in the sales that importers from Canada had paid for the passenger cars that were being delivered throughout the year from various countries.
